Kneph was an Egyptian god, originally the supreme god for people at Elephantine. According to Plutarch and Diodorus, kneph was identical to the Greek pneuma, the words having the same meaning. Kneph in this context was that of a spirit which breathed life into things, giving them form.

Kneph eventually became considered the creator god, eventually becoming assimilated into Ammon, and thus into Ra, and eventually Horus

Kneph is typically depicted as a ram-headed man.
